Events

We host regular picnics throughout the Piedmont that feature food and drinks made from local ingredients and inspired by unique southern culture and history.  We always try to make our picnics participatory and hands-on so that attendees have fun learning about simple and delicious historical foods and drinks and participate in making them on site!

If you are a local restaurant, business, organization, or individual interested in hosting a picnic, we would love to co-sponsor or consult on your event!  We will work with you to design an interactive and unique picnic where attendees engage in Piedmont history through food and drink.   Send us an email at piedmont.picnic@gmail.com.

Classes

We offer classes and historical demonstrations on various food preservation, foraging, gardening, and cooking and mixology topics.  If you have a group of friends or an organization that would be interested in one of our classes, please contact us at piedmont.picnic@gmail.com.  We will also post upcoming scheduled classes on our blog and facebook pages.

Blog

Follow our blog or our facebook page to get the following about locally sources foods and drinks:

Historical Background.  Learn how people used to use unique local ingredients before our food system went global.  We’ll give you the story behind the dish and maybe even a few tutorials on how to do things the old-fashioned way.

Growing and Foraging How-To’s.  A fun and cheap way to access local ingredients is to find them around town or grow them yourself.  We’ll tune you in to what might be available in your backyard or along the sidewalk that you may have never thought of as food!  We’ll also give tutorials on how to grow local ingredients yourself.

Recipes and Practical Applications.  Southern traditions and local ingredients will inspire simple food and drink recipes and the methods of preparing them.

Products

We hope to be able to offer our own versions of locally sourced and foraged ingredients from the recipes we feature on our blog, sustainable party supplies and decor featuring reused materials, and (of course!) cookbooks that compile our favorite recipes.  Check back in often!  We’ll let you know as soon as they are available.
